Reverse Phone Number Lookup

I keep getting calls from 1-877-289-0281 leaving recorded message to call with a referrence number or go to certified notice. I have tried to find out who this number belongs to but nothing comes up. Watch out could be a scam.

My son who is 15 yrs old, received a call today from 877-289-0281. Of course he didn't answer because it was a toll free number and there was no reason for a # as such to be calling a teen. A voice mail was left asking for another person and indicated that if this # could not reach the intended person the message was for, to please call so that the number could be removed. I called the number and spoke to a Steve (would not give me his last name) who asked me for a file number. I stated that I did not have a file number. Steve became very defensive and demanded that I explain how I got the number to call. I explained that a voice message was left on my son's phone and that this number was not the correct number. Steve responded by stating he would make note of the number and remove it from their list and then he disconnected the call. While the fair debt act talks about contact being illegal to contact cell phones, may persons do not have land lines and the only phone communication they do have is through cell phones. If you provide those cell numbers as primary contact numbers to medical providers, etc., a collection service is not breaking the law when they are calling the number provided as a home number. In this instance, whomever this person was that they were seeking did just that when they had the phone number. Using a little exercise of patience and common sense, simply calling back the number and explaining that there is a wrong # usually will rectify the situation. If it does not, write the company and explain the incident and ask that the number be removed from their list. If there is persistence after sending a written letter from the collections agency, then perhaps talking with legal representation or someone else who has experience in harassment might be a valid area to pursue. Trying the basics of communication and staying the "mature adult" about a call often will rectify the situation even if the "professional' side is not being so professional. It will be interesting to see if any more calls come in from this number now that I've called them back and alerted that the # they had was incorrect.
