It would be more effective to actually talk to them, getting information from them as to who they are, where they are, etc. Then, armed with that information and other information on the Internet about how to take them to small claims court, you could wind up collecting thousands of dollars -- for each of these calls. I would have done it with this caller, but they called when I wasn't available and my answering machine picked up. However, I have the Caller ID information, and that is enough to pursue a claim. In Houston, Texas, there's a guy who has apparently collected (As in, "Took checks to the bank and made DEPOSITS.") over $100,000.00 from telemarketers. He has been on TV showing $5,000 checks various ones had to pay him. Complaining is a good start. I despise these people as much as anyone else. Unfortunately, telling them what they're doing a scam is not helpful. It may be a scam, but if they hang up, it just irritates me more. If we go along with them, we can turn their scam into a sting. Getting them to keep talking is the only way to beat them, because they don't come read what we post about them, in places like this. It feels good to post it, but my rant doesn't help you track them down and get money from them. If you give them a credit card number, you can certainly then find out who they are, and if they promise you can cancel their service if dissatisfied, it won't cost you anything. I've been angry for years. I decided to get smart. If more of us get smart, they will stop the illegal component of their activities. If all we do is stand around complaining to each other (Which is all a lot of us do, on sites like this.) they will keep calling. Remember, the calling is not illegal. However, the law gives you tools which you can use to MAKE the calling illegal -- and then collect. There have been court cases where consumers were awarded more than $20,000 -- per call -- from telemarketers. If you get 100 calls (2 calls a week) from telemarketers who violate different laws in the process -- and if you collect $1,000 for each call -- wouldn't that be better than making them hang up (and immediately call someone else) then coming here to whine?

I have been getting calls from these scam artists for about a year and you do not get removed from their list either by automated system or live person. I plan on reporting them next time they call there is a code you can enter on the phone that will make it where the police can trace them

I received a call at 12:15 PM August 14th from these scam artists. It was a automatic voice message wanting me to activate my car's warranty. When I pressed one to speak with a representative, I told him I knew it was a scam and I was going to report him. Click! End of call. this is the third call I received wanting to activate my car's warranty... It's a scam...I just wish these creeps could be stopped.
